I create mixed media pieces reflecting the stories of life - our adventures, struggles, lessons, and the quiet moments in between. Works inviting viewers to draw their own insights through my personal visual reflections.
Artworks reflecting dialogues between memory, imagination, material, and the stories they portray. My works draw from an adventurous life of creative exploration, exciting adventures, and a colorful imagination. Fortunate early years, along with sufficient success in the design business, has allowed me a wonderful life with extensive U.S. and world travel, creating unforgettable adventures. I continue to draw inspiration and visual expression through many of these memories, as new ones unfold.
Originally a South Carolina native, I landed in Dalton, Georgia roughly forty years ago through a job relocation. Decades of design experience and a life of artistic exploration have brought me to a place where I’m prepared to immerse myself fully in my mixed media assemblage work.
Each piece begins as an emotion, a conversation, or a fleeting memory that guides the creative process. I then work with new, found, and collected objects to reflect the tensions between order and chaos, strength and vulnerability, reality and imagination … inviting viewers to find their own connection between the layers of my vision.
I am currently exploring mostly intimate pieces that speak from the soul and emotions of who we are and what we believe. Most of these works are sized perfectly for those personal spaces that define us as individuals.
Much of my life has been underscored by high-functioning alcohol and substance abuse, a recurring theme that runs beneath the majority of my work. Now a dozen years removed from its grips, I remain fascinated by the strength and depth of its power—how it can distort our views of nearly every aspect of life. That lingering presence continues to interest, confuse, and challenge me, shaping the themes that emerge in my work.
My assemblage art has been included in ten juried and invitational exhibitions, including a Best in 3-D award. Several newspaper articles have highlighted my work, and I was honored with a city arts grant for public works. In addition to formal shows, my work has been featured in community spaces, restaurants, and other public venues, extending its reach to audiences outside traditional gallery walls. These experiences, combined with my personal journey, continue to fuel the stories I bring into form. I hope you will find one that speaks to you!
